In 2016, to raise needed funds for the construction of a post home, charter member, Jim Strande, suggested that the post host a car show with all the proceeds earmarked for the Post Building Fund. Like any new idea, there are lots of other ideas that surfaced. Such as - a place (preferably FREE and in a good location), a reoccurring theme, a memorable graphic so folks “connect” to the event, categories or criteria for the entries; prizes, food, and music - fundraisers like 50/50 drawings to increase the revenue! So many things to consider for one person and so the Building Fund committee was formed and by putting together “their heads” of the Building Fund members – the event was born and has continued for 10 years. All donations in support of the Post 135 Home Construction can be made directly to the post – please annotate the Memo Line on your check so that it will go specifically to the effort.
